How much have your subscriptions really gone up?

US list prices for the subscriptions we track are up 37% since 2021. That figure is the unweighted mean across 30 primary plans: each plan’s current US price versus its launch price, averaged and expressed as a percent change. The aggregate index sits at 137, where 2021 equals 100. Disney+ is the steepest climb, from $6.99 to $21.49 (+207%) on its primary plan. The index covers streaming, music, cloud storage, news, audiobooks, AI tools, creative software, gaming, fitness, bundles and shopping. Every change is a dated event linked to a primary source — an official newsroom post or reputable reporting — and every statistic is computed from that log at build time, so the pages, structured data and index cannot disagree. Figures are US base prices in USD, excluding tax. We update a service within 12 hours of a confirmed change. See how we compile the index for the full method, including who maintains it.

Most services follow the same playbook: launch at a low price to build a subscriber base, then raise prices once switching feels like a hassle — often while steering cost-conscious users toward cheaper ad-supported tiers. Across the 30 services we track, the average subscription has raised its price 37% since launch.

Disney+ currently tops our leaderboard — its primary plan has climbed from $6.99 to $21.49, a 207% increase since launch. See the full ranking in the leaderboard above.
