Cancellation Steps

01

Go to your paid memberships page

On a computer or mobile browser, sign in to your account and go to youtube.com/paid_memberships. (In the YouTube app, tap your profile picture, then Paid memberships.)

02

Open the membership you want to cancel

Click (or tap) on your YouTube Premium membership, then click Deactivate (on mobile, tap Continue to cancel).

03

Confirm the cancellation

Click (or tap) Continue to cancel, select a reason for canceling, then click Next.

04

Finish

Click (or tap) Yes, cancel. You'll keep Premium benefits until the end of your current billing period and won't be charged again unless you re-subscribe.

05

If you signed up through a third party

If you subscribed via Apple (iTunes), a mobile carrier, or another partner, you must cancel through that provider. On iPhone, go to Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions to cancel.

Refund policy

YouTube Premium does not give prorated refunds; after cancelling, you keep all Premium benefits until the end of the period you've already paid for.

  • Cancelling stops the next renewal but does not refund the current period.
  • Free-trial users can cancel before the trial ends to avoid being charged.
  • If billed via Apple or Google Play, any refund must be requested from that store.

Common issues

No cancel button in the app

On iPhone, an Apple-billed membership can only be cancelled through Apple's Subscriptions settings, not within the YouTube app.

Still being charged

If charges continue, you likely have a second subscription billed through a different store (Apple vs. Google vs. web)—check each billing source.

Frequently asked questions

Do I keep Premium until the end of the month?
Yes. After cancelling, ad-free playback, background play, and YouTube Music Premium remain active until the end of your current billing period.
Why is the cancel flow different on my iPhone?
If you subscribed through the YouTube iOS app, Apple handles billing, so you must cancel in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions rather than in YouTube.
Does cancelling Premium remove YouTube Music?
Yes. YouTube Music Premium is included with YouTube Premium, so ending Premium also ends the bundled Music Premium benefits at the cycle's end.
