5

If you're billed through a third party

If you signed up through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku, or a TV/mobile provider, you must cancel through that provider (e.g. turn off auto-renew in their subscriptions settings).

Refund Policy

HBO Max does not offer refunds for partial months when you cancel directly. Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period.

  • No pro-rated refunds for the unused portion.
  • Access continues until the paid period ends.

Common Issues

Subscribed Through a Provider?

If you bill through Apple, Google, Amazon, Roku, or a cable/mobile partner, you must cancel in that provider's account — HBO Max's settings will direct you there.

Max vs. HBO Max Naming

The service was called "Max" but rebranded back to HBO Max in 2025 — your login and subscription carry over unchanged, just under the HBO Max name.
