Cancellation Steps
Go to Services & subscriptions
Open account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the Microsoft account tied to your Game Pass.
Find your Game Pass subscription
Under Subscriptions, locate your plan (such as Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, Game Pass Essential, or PC Game Pass).
Click (or tap) Manage
Select Manage next to the subscription you want to end.
Cancel subscription or turn off recurring billing
Choose Cancel subscription (or Turn off recurring billing to keep access until the period ends), then follow the prompts. You'll get a confirmation email and keep access until your current billing period ends.
Bought through a third party?
If you subscribed via a store like Apple or Google Play, it won't appear in your Microsoft account — cancel it in that app store's subscription settings instead.
Refund Policy
Turning off recurring billing keeps access until the period ends; Microsoft may offer a prorated refund on some plans through its refund process.
- Cancelling stops future charges but you usually keep access until the paid period ends.
- Some subscriptions qualify for a prorated refund of the unused time during cancellation — Microsoft shows this option if eligible.
- Prepaid or gifted codes are generally non-refundable.
Common Issues
Only see Turn off recurring billing
For some plans Microsoft replaces Cancel with Turn off recurring billing; selecting it stops renewal and access ends at the period's end.
Converted Ultimate time
If you stacked prepaid Game Pass or converted Xbox Live Gold, that time may not be refundable and runs until it expires.
