Cancellation Steps
Sign in to dropbox.com
Log in to your account at dropbox.com in a web browser. Plan changes can't be made from the mobile or desktop app.
Open Manage account
Click (or tap) your avatar (your photo or initials) in the bottom-left corner, then click (or tap) Manage account.
Choose to change your plan
Click (or tap) Change plan at the bottom of the page. To drop your paid subscription, select Dropbox Basic, the free plan.
Review and confirm
Click (or tap) Review changes, then Confirm change. Your account switches to free Dropbox Basic at the end of your current billing cycle, and you keep access to all your files and folders.
If you subscribed in an app store
If you bought Dropbox through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the website won't show a cancel option. Cancel it instead in your phone's Subscriptions settings (Apple ID or Google Play account).
Refund Policy
Dropbox does not refund monthly plans, but an annual plan canceled within a short window may qualify; access continues until the billing period ends.
- Downgrading drops you to the free Dropbox Basic plan (2GB).
- Files over the Basic limit stay but you can't add new ones until you're under quota.
- App Store or Google Play purchases must be canceled and refunded through Apple or Google.
Common Issues
Bought through the App Store
If you purchased Dropbox via the Apple App Store, the Cancel plan button is unavailable—cancel under Settings > Subscriptions on your Apple device.
Over the 2GB Basic limit after downgrade
Once on Basic, accounts exceeding 2GB cannot upload or sync new files until enough data is removed.
